Lucy Marks is a Sussex landscape painter. She paints on canvas and paper, primarily in oil and watercolour. Lucy likes to convey the atmosphere of a place, rather than what is actually there.
About the artist: Lucy Marks graduated from Brighton University with an MA in Fine Art. She is a landscape painter and focuses on capturing the energy of the environment in a non-representational way. Her process is to work directly from the landscape, either painting directly or, more commonly, sketching. Through painting, Lucy explores the energy, dynamism, movement and the conscious aliveness of the landscape.
Lucy works from her studio and uses mainly oil and watercolour media. She enjoys the different challenges each medium brings.
Her artworks have been exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (RI), the Society of Women Artists (SWA), the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI), the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) all at the Mall Galleries in London.
In 2017, Lucy was the winner of the St. Cuthbert’s Mill Award by The Artist & Leisure Painter at the Patchings Art Festival.
